VIC WorkCover Industry Rates and Certificates Of Currency

The Victorian Government has released the gazetted industry rates for the 2015/16 WorkCover policy year.

You can view the new rate for all industries in Victoria via the link below.

How does your industry compare?

If you’re not sure what industry or industries you are classified in I strongly recommend contacting a Premium Account Manager at your workcover agent to find out.

The nature of work performed by businesses can change over time and your industry classification should be regularly reviewed. As an example an employer I worked with in the construction industry began using more wood materials than steel in their product. Upon review this placed them in a new industry classification and came with a significant reduction in premium. However without prompting a review they would have continued paying the higher rate.

Certificates Of Currency

Certificates Of Currency for the 2015/16 policy year (ie. post 1 July 2015) are now available online via WorkSafe Victoria’s website.

If you provide labour to other clients/worksites, work in construction or need to tender for new business then often you will need to provide evidence of your workers compensation coverage.

Until next time.
